Philosophy of Religion

The position of religion today, which is both irreducible (  "return of religion") and in need of being be critically reflected ("post-secularism debate"), is discussed in various contexts (such as social philosophy and political philosophy, continental philosophy of religion, phenomenology, political theology and deconstruction, etc.). In the process, the philosophical debate (in global modernity) shifts with the intercultural comparison and adjustment to religions as they change throughout history and must keep going back to the question: Which philosophy stands in which relation to which religion? Of special interest in this context are the processes of self-enlightenment in religions.

In this respect, the work within the RaT cluster "Transformation of the Philosophy of Religion" serves to bundle existing individual research foci and at the same time to sharpen the profile of a genuine philosophy of religion platform through interdisciplinary dialogue and exchange.
